Our First Experimental Release Is Here...

It's taken 2 years to get this far and we've released our first experimental version of Fire Linux.

This particular release contains most of the features of a linux operating system, with a few changes, at the moment with development and experimental releases we're only offering 32bit versions, but we've tried to keep the size of the operating system down.

0.0.1 is 889mb and will fit most pen drives, for those familiar with the Fire Linux and our previous project we're trying to get a OS that will not only fit on a Raspberry Pi and on a tablet, we have tested our OLPC project on a mini laptop and unfortunately due to other circumstances, we've not been able to get other mini laptops.

Hopefully in the near future once Fire Linux is at a mature stage and other economic issues are resolved we might be able to offer Fire Linux complete with educational activities on a mini laptop which OLPC and similar projects has been able to offer before.

So for your review and experimentation hit the link below to download Fire Linux 0.0.1:

As this version is purely experimental we ask that you don't overwrite any other operating system that you are using and use this version for evaluation purposes only.

We would also like everyone to bear in mind, this version does not come with any branding at the moment, cosmetic changes will be made before a full release is made.

Installation is simple and easy, you can easily use a USB Pen Drive or Burn to a DVD.

For installation via a USB Pen Drive we recommend downloading and using Linux Live USB Creator

You can also use this version via a virtual box and to use Fire Linux via a virtual box you will need to download either VMWare which is not free or Oracle Virtual Box which is free.

Once you have Fire Linux on your chosen medium, you can log into the system using the following:
